Little Brother, chapter 12

The DHS and SFPD are crazy. The illegal concert in the park was not a riot. It was a bunch of kids getting together to listen to music and protest a little bit. People who weren't there saw it as an attack on the police when they showed up. The papers said that the people at the concert attacked the police when they were asked to disperse. I object to that. I think it was wrong for the government to gass all thoes innocent people. The people in the park were there to listen to the music. There were children as young as 10 years old there, and the government shouldn't put innocent people, espically children, in danger by gassing a crowd and then arresting most of the people that were there.
There really wasn't anything bad going on at the concert. The only thing happening was a bunch of sweaty kids dancing to music in a park. Also, some chanting of "TAKE IT BACK!" and "Dont trust anyone over 25!" occured. But since there was no permit, the police decided that the crowd would be dangerous. I think that they should've at least given the people a warning before charging, gassing, and arresting them. The government basically just took away their First Amendment right to gather peacefully. It's not like anyone was getting hurt from the concert, so the police shouldn't have arrested anyone, or even gassed anyone. It was definately not a riot.
